TO THE EDITORS:

How many viewers noticed the commercials Jan. 20 during the NFL conference playoff game on Fox Sports? There were at least 10 different instances showing assault rifles being used.

I am convinced the constant bombardment of "shoot 'em up blow 'em up" desensitizes the general public and especially the weak and the morally ungrounded. It insults the law-abiding, ordinary gun owner.

Apparently the networks are making money on society's appetite for violence. It seems like a conflict of conscience to support violence by viewing it and abhor it (rightfully so) when it happens in real life.

What would happen if the silent majority would contact the networks and tell them the effect you believe this kind of advertising for entertainment has on society?
