Creamery to reopen
BY CINDY HUMMEL, Correspondent

A favorite tourist stop on Strasburg's Square will hold a grand re-opening at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Strasburg Country Store & Creamery has been closed since early January for renovations, according to manager Robin Stermer.

The wood floors, original to the 200-plus-year-old structure, have been refinished.

The waffle irons that had been in the store window are gone. Stermer said the new irons can cook waffles, used for ice cream cones, in half the time of the ones that were removed.

Stermer and owner Nick Whitford put finishing touches on the store Tuesday afternoon.

The ice cream/food counter and menu signs behind the counter are new.

Upstairs from the Creamery is a 10-room bed-and-breakfast. All the rooms have been redecorated, Whitford said. One of Stermer's favorite upgrades is a an off-white marble shower with multiple jets set at different water pressures..

Notable antiques such as a marble soda fountain, a Mr. Peanut roaster and an antique coffee grinder that stands about 5-feet tall remain.
