Elizabeth B. Shelly

Elizabeth B. Shelly, 96, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Lancaster General Hospital.She was born in Akron to the late George and Mary (Bittner) Wolf and was the wife of the late Elwood Shelly.Elizabeth attended Akron High School and worked in the Akron Shoe Factory after school. She married Elwood Shelly and they began farming. She was active in the Akron Church of the Brethren. From 1963 to 1968, she worked at the Akron Restaurant as a cook's helper. She was employed as a cook and server at Wolf's Snack Bar from 1968-1976. In 1976, Elizabeth and her husband moved to Agape Campground in Shirleysburg, PA. She and her husband were custodians of the grounds and facilities. Later, Elizabeth cooked for those attending the activities at the campground. In December 2006, after serving Agape Campground for 30 years, she moved to Ephrata.Elizabeth is survived by 2 sons, Larry N., husband of Cindy L. (Stradling) Shelly of Akron, Jerry L., husband of Donna J. (Wormstead) Shelly of Rochester, NH; 2 grandchildren, Rebecca and Julie Shelly; a brother, Paul Wolf of Bowmansville.In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Miriam Kachel and Kathryn Shelly; 3 brothers, Arthur, Howard and Galen Wolf.Interment in the New Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, PA at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Agape Farm in Shirleysburg, PA.Memorial contributions in Elizabeth's memory may be made to Agape Farm Retreat Center, 17512 Rapture Street, Shirleysburg, PA 17260.Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
