LECTURE: Local historian Leroy Hopkins will discuss the contributions of African Americans to the development of Lancaster during a lecture Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Friends Meeting House, 110 Tulane Terrace.

The talk is part of the League of Women Voters' lecture series.

FAMILY EVENT: Milton Hershey School will host a family event Thursday, Feb. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at HACC Lancaster, 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike, main building, room 222.

Family events are informal get-togethers that offer people a chance to learn more about the school.

Following a free meal and brief presentation, attendees will have time to ask questions and talk with staff, students, parents and alumni.

TOURS: In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the McCaskey High School Campus, tours of the high school buildings will be given for alumni on Wednesday.

Guided tours of McCaskey East will take place at noon and 12:30. Tours of McCaskey will take place at 1 and 1:30 p.m.

Pre-registration and photo ID is required to attend.

In order to register for one or both of the tours, call 291-6211, extension 30619, by Tuesday. Callers should leave name, phone number, year of graduation and desired location and tour time. No return calls will be made.

Alumni also are invited to attend a student assembly at 2:15 in the McCaskey Auditorium. The assembly will feature a student-performed skit about McCaskey's history. After the assembly, cake will be served in the cafeteria.

Alumni and the public also are welcome to return to the media center at McCaskey at 7 p.m. as Dolores Parsil, retired McCaskey teacher, will entertain guests with a free presentation on John Piersol McCaskey titled "John Piersol McCaskey: Beneficiary and Benefactor of the Pennsylvania Common Schools."
