Donald J. Doutrich, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Margaret Gochenaur Doutrich with whom he was married 40 years before her in death in 2008. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Frank B. and Zelva Kocher Doutrich.Donald was a retired automobile mechanic having owned and operated Doutrich?s Garage in Lancaster for fifty years. He was involved in auto racing for many years and enjoyed the sport throughout his life. His racing career was highlighted by having raced against Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough. He also served in the U.S. Army.He is survived by his sons, Don J. Doutrich and his wife Beth, Lancaster and Steve Doutrich and his wife Lynn, Manheim; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Dale Doutrich, Hellam; Frank J. Doutrich and his wife Kathy, Columbia and sister Arlene Dellinger of Wrightsville. His son, Thomas D. Doutrich, and siblings Rose Doutrich and Cleon J. Doutrich preceded him in death.A memorial service will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Wednesday at 11:00AM with the Rev. Mark S. Kopp, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
