Diffenderfer RuppJoan E. Diffenderfer Rupp of Columbia died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at York Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late John M. (Mel) Rupp. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Peg) Lockard Diffenderfer.Joan was of the Methodist Faith. She served as President of the Pennsylvania State Foster Parents Association and cared for over 100 teenagers in her years as a foster parent. She was retired from Peerless Hardware where she spent many years as an executive administrator. She was also involved with both the Trinity House and the Red Rose Memorial Post #2435 VFW in Columbia.Surviving her are her children: Daughters: Rose wife of James Albright of Columbia; Helen (Marge) wife of Jeffrey Ruff of Forney, TX; and Jo Reed of West Brandywine, PA; a Son: John M. Rupp, Jr. husband of Alane Rupp of Columbia. Also surviving her are her 12 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren and a Sister: Kay wife of Theodore Johnson of Columbia. She was met at Heaven's gates by her parents, her husband and her Brother: Harry Diffenderfer.Funeral Services for Joan will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 12:30PM (VIEWING: 11:30AM - 12:30PM) with Rev. Mark Kopp officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.
