charged in crash
Emmylou Harris
Los Angeles prosecutors have charged country star Emmylou Harris with misdemeanor hit-and-run related to an accident last year.
The Grammy-winning singer was charged Wednesday for failing to exchange information with a driver whose car she hit on a freeway Oct. 1.
A criminal complaint filed in Beverly Hills did not contain additional details about the accident or how much damage occurred.
A publicist for the 65-year-old singer didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
Harris has won a dozen Grammys for her solo work and collaborations with artists such as Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Alison Krauss and others.
Harris continues to tour and is scheduled to release an album of duets in late February.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is praising Austria -- and not because it's the country of his birth.
Arriving in Vienna on Wednesday ahead of the launch of his energy and climate change project, Schwarzenegger lauded "all the great things in Austria that are happening regarding climate change."
European Commission President Jos' Manuel Barroso was joined by Austrian Chancellor Werner Fayman and other Austrian leaders at what organizers describe as the opening meeting of Schwarzenegger's R20 initiative Thursday.
The project is intended to focus on the role of states, regions, cities and provinces in working to achieve U.N. and European Union environmental goals.
Schwarzenegger, an action film star and ex-California governor, is beloved in his native Austria despite weathering some personal scandals, including revelations that he had an extramarital affair.
A spokesman says porn star Ron Jeremy is recovering from surgery at a Los Angeles hospital after an aneurysm near his heart sent him to intensive care.
Agent Mike Esterman said Jeremy, 59, underwent the procedure Wednesday night at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Esterman said Jeremy had a heavy feeling in his chest and drove himself to the hospital, where diagnosed the aneurysm and put him in the intensive care unit.
One of the best-known names in the porn industry, Jeremy has said he's appeared in more than 2,000 adult films.
While officially retired he still shows up in films and public events, and appeared in the reality TV series "The Surreal Life."
