TO THE EDITORS:

In response to the article on the Gundel Funeral Home, Jan. 27: Yes, the professionalism and management style of Mr. Siar was not in the best interests of the families he has served. It was wrong and not trustworthy. His actions are not indicative of other funeral homes or others involved in this business.

However, my father always taught me that when a man is down, you don't kick him, you reach out your hand and help him to his feet. There are many circumstances that can occur that cause one to fall, personal circumstances that should not necessarily be discussed in public.

In response to transferring one's prearrangements, consumers have the right to transfer their prearrangements to any funeral home of their choice.

Simply because one has prearrangements with a particular funeral home doesn't mean that person is committed to use that funeral home. It is a natural reaction for the competition to gloat over circumstances such as this.

My advice: Don't.
