Penn Twp. makes some changes for 2013
JEREMY CARLES, Correspondent
Penn Township supervisors voted Jan. 7 to retain their posts in 2013, with the exception of the treasurer.
Travis Rohrer will remain board chairman, and David Wood will stay on as vice chairman.
Rohrer took over as chairman in August 2011 when then-chairman David Sarley decided he would step down. Sarley resigned Oct. 12, and John Kegarise was appointed to fill the vacancy on Oct. 22.
Ronald Krause will move into the treasurer position, formerly held by Daryl Lefever. Lefever is the township's public works director.
Wood, Lefever and Kegarise are all in the final year of their terms as supervisors.
David Kratzer will continue his duties as township manager, secretary and assistant treasurer of the board.
Supervisors decided Brent Lied of Becker Engineering will serve Penn as engineer.
Kratzer said that ELA group, which had provided engineering services, would finish projects under way including work at North Penryn and Doe Run roads and the sustainability project at the water treatment facility.
The board appointed Len Spencer of Len Spencer SEO Services to take over as sewage enforcement officer.
Rohrer said hiring a new engineering firm and Spencer were the first steps in a process of re-evaluating services provided to the township.
