Seldomridge to retire from CV

nDistrict's director of administrative services has led its business office for 25 years.

The Conestoga Valley School District board of directors last week accepted the retirement of Kim Seldomridge, the district's director of administrative services, effective Aug. 30.

Seldomridge, a 1975 graduate of CV, has led the district's business office for 25 years.

"I feel that the district is in a very good place, and it is a good time to turn over the reins," he said. "I am looking forward to new challenges and opportunities in my professional life and to spending more time with my family."

In his role, Seldomridge provides strategic leadership to the district's budget and fiscal operations, human resources, facilities, security, information technology, food service and transportation.

During his career, Seldomridge has implemented a host of cost-saving measures in areas of transportation, bond financing, worker's compensation and property and employee health insurance. He also led the district in a number of revenue initiatives, including a private corporation owned by the CV Education Foundation.

As chair of the benchmarking committee of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, Seldomridge was instrumental in forming an electronic resource center of best management practices for members across the state. The site is now used nationwide. He received PASBO's Award of Achievement in 1994.

Seldomridge was awarded the CV Award of Excellence in 2006.

"Before coming to Conestoga Valley, during my tenure at the state Department of Education, I experienced the culture and operations of school districts across the commonwealth," he said. "I can say with great confidence that I have had the opportunity to serve one of the best districts in the state. The CV board and administration are men and women of high competence and integrity, and the support staff and teachers are among the very best."

Seldomridge holds a master's degree in public administration from Shippensburg University and a bachelor's degree from Geneva College in Beaver Falls.

Outside of CV, Seldomridge served as chairperson of the board of directors for the national nonprofit organization Center for Parent/Youth Understanding, an organization that provides data on youth culture. He also is an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and a trustee of the Eber Reese Foundation. He is married with three children.

Conestoga Valley will now implement a seven-month transition plan. Applications for the position are due in February. More information on the opening will be posted at the district's website, www.cvsd.k12.pa.us in the near future.
