GRADUATIONS DEAN'S LIST HONORS

n Rachel E. Shenk of East Petersburg graduated summa cum laude from Messiah College with a bachelor of arts degree in human development and family science on Dec. 12

A 2009 graduate of Hempfield High School, she is the daughter of Dale and Gretchen Shenk.

n Benjamin T. Shenk of East Petersburg received a bachelor of arts degree in physical education from the University of Mount Union on Dec. 14. He also was awarded the Gordon L. Wable Memorial Prize.

A graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, he is the son of Dale and Gretchen Shenk.

n The following area students received master of science degrees in education from Wilkes University in December.

Michele Edens of Mountville, Joshua Irons of Lancaster, Sharon Kraft of Lititz, Ashley Kreider of Landisville, Tania Kreider of Ephrata, Eric Messer of Morgantown, Wendy Moncak of Lancaster, Nancy Nadig of Lititz, Abby Pestcoe of Landisville, Jonathan Weitzel of Ephrata, Bryan Wise of Honey Brook and Robert Wolfe of Morgantown.

n Sydney M. Hines of Lititz was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at High Point University, where she is majoring in early elementary and special education.

A 2011 graduate of Manheim Township High School, she is the daughter of Dave and Jeanette Hines.

n Jessica L. Ernst of Stevens was named to the deans list for the fall semester at Clarion University in Clarion, where she is a sophomore majoring in sociology with a minor in social work.

A graduate of Cocalico High School, she is the daughter of Donnie and Denise Ernst.

n John T. Diehm of Lititz was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, where he is a freshman.

He is a 2006 graduate of Warwick High School.

n Two area students were named to the president's list for the fall semester at Mansfield University.

They are Kayla Espigh of East Earl and Natalie Schaffer of Honey Brook.

To be named to the president's list, a student must attend the university full time and attain at least a 4.0 grade-point average for the semester.

n Kaylin Miley was named to the deans list for the fall semester at Misericordia University, where she is a freshman majoring in occupational therapy.

A 2012 graduate of Manheim Township High School, she is the daughter of Cindy and Dave Miley of Lititz.

n The following area students were named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Mansfield University:

Logan Bleistine of Lancaster, Ann Brodrick of Lititz, Megan Gretz of Mount Joy, Patrick Homan of Ephrata, Timothy Horst of Lancaster, Ryan Musser of Strasburg, Emily Schreckengost of Lititz, Morgan Schreckengost of Lititz, Brittany Wright of Lancaster and Glendon Zimmerman of Narvon.

n The following area students were named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Clarion University:

Jennifer Irvin of Elizabethtown, Colin Miller of Elizabethtown, Blayne Sheaffer of Mountville, Jessica Ernst of Stevens, Kaitlin Haas of Lancaster, Courtney Menges of Lancaster, Samuel Nolan of Lancaster, Joan Cullen of Lancaster and Zachary Cauchon of Marietta.

n Sarah Christine Felpel of Willow Street was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C.

n Two local residents were named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Thiel College in Greenville.

They are: Kelsey Elizabeth Adair of Ephrata, a junior; and Anne M. Mullhausen of Elizabethtown, a sophomore.

n Mike Vicente Guaigua of Lancaster was honored recently with a Gold Star for outstanding academic achievement in the fall semester at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he is an active-duty military student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

Gold Stars are presented to students who achieve a 3.7 grade-point average or higher during a semester's course work and are worn on the collar of the cadet full dress and dress uniforms and the summer leave uniform.

Recipients will recognized during a military dress parade on Jan. 25.
