BY RYAN ROBINSON, Staff Writer
Police have released the names of two drivers killed in a head-on crash in East Donegal Township on Monday evening.
Bainbridge residents Darlene R. Crick, 45, of 215 Race St., and Frederick M. Janiec, 55, of 726 Stackstown Road, died in the accident, according to Susquehanna Regional police Lt. Stephen Englert.
They were pronounced dead at the scene, Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said. Autopsies were planned Tuesday afternoon.
The 4:46 p.m. crash happened on an open stretch of road near 1406 River Road, Englert said.
Janiec was driving a Ford Taurus station wagon south when he drifted into the northbound lane and struck Crick's Volkswagen, Englert said.
Crick's car came to rest in a field, Englert said. Janiec's car ended up in the north lane, facing north.
No cause of the crash has been determined, and the wreck remains under investigation, Englert said Tuesday.
Roads were wet but not icy at the time of the wreck, he said.
There were no passengers in either car.
Crick was driving from work at the time of the crash, Englert said. Police think Janiec was on his way to New Jersey. His family lives there, and he works in Cranbury, N.J.
Police know of some witnesses of the crash, Englert added.
Police ask anyone with information to call them at 426-1164.
