Newcomer, Jr.Nathan Y. Newcomer, Jr., 69, of Lancaster died Sunday morning, January 27, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Anna K. Barton and Nathan Yohe Newcomer. He was the husband of Margaret A. "Peg" Miller Newcomer with whom he celebrated 10 years of marriage in September 2012.Nathan was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School in vocational studies, and joined Armstrong World Industries as a machinist apprentice in 1961. He retired in 2005 after 44 years of service, the last 15 as a millwright leader.Nathan spent many years as a competitive weightlifter for Bob Hoffman?s world famous York Barbell Company. His many achievements included winning the bronze medal in the 1972 World Championship for Power Lifting, winning the State championship 4 years straight and setting a record deadlift of 700 lbs.Spending summers on the Susquehanna River at the family cottage, camping and canoeing with his friends and family were some of Nathan?s fondest memories. He enjoyed playing his banjo, a hobby he renewed after his retirement. His cat Logan took a special place in his heart and received much love and attention. Nathan was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 43 F. & A.M., Lancaster. He served proudly with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for six years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Matthew Todd husband of Michelle M. Newcomer, Wynnewood, PA, a daughter, Nicole Yvonne wife of Jon C. Campagna, Hoboken, NJ, and one grandson, Alexander H. Newcomer. Also surviving are two step-daughters and four step grandchildren: Heather L. wife of Edgar Torres, Leola, PA, Ariane M. Fox, fiancée of Marcus Watson, Everett, WA, Step grandchildren: Isabella R. Torres, Ian E. Torres, Dominic K. Watson, and Makana M. Watson. In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Elizabethanne wife of James L. Hammel, Jr. and Carrielee wife of Martin Fidler both of Millsboro, DE.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nathan?s Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at The Groffs Family Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster (corner of West Orange and Pine Streets) with the Rev. Christopher Rankin officiating. The family will receive friends at The Groffs on Friday evening February 1, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, February 3 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. when a Masonic Service will be held by Lodge No. 43 F. & A.M.
