Tip of the hat to vet

TO THE EDITORS:

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank whoever it was who paid or my wife's and my lunch at the Udder Choice in Ephrata recently. We didn't know it was happening until the waitress told us the person had left.

I'm sure the motivating factor was my hat, which indicates that I am a World War II veteran. I'm 88 years of age and have decided that WW II veterans are a minority group. That being the case, a little reminder from a guy who served in the 1256th Combat Engineers in Europe should not offend anyone.

When I walked in one of the death camps and saw the few abused survivors, I realized what a truly great country the United States really is. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, and don't let them say that the concentration camps didn't really exist.
