Jacob Hoover, Jr., age 80 of Christiana, PA, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Saturday, January 26, 2013. He was the husband of Mary Brown Hoover with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 20th of last year. He was born in Lancaster, PA, son of the late Jacob S. Sr. & Mildred E. Posten Hoover. He was a member of Georgetown United Methodist Church. Jake was a carpenter for most of his life having his own business and then retiring from Wickersham Construction of Lancaster. He served in the Army. He was a life member of the Bart Township Fire Company where he served as Captain of the Fire Police for many years. He was a member of the Lancaster County Fire Police Association and Camp Paradise Sportsman?s Association. He enjoyed hunting. Surviving besides his wife are 4 children: Judy A. wife of Marvin J. Caskey, Jr. of Kinzers, Stanley J. husband of Pam Dings Hoover of Christiana, Susan H. wife of Dennis W. Fromm of Christiana, Michael F. husband of Debra A. Frackman Hoover of Paradise, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 4 siblings: Helen G. wife of Raymond Workman of Strasburg, Donald L. Hoover of New Holland, Mildred E. wife of George Overly of Millersville, Richard E. husband of Patricia Shivery Hoover of Christiana. He was preceded in death by a great grandson: Bailey Ray Caskey, 4 siblings: Edith Heider, Jane, Robert & William Hoover. Funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA on Wednesday, January 30th at 10 a.m. with Pastor Elaine Miller Bortman officiating. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Georgetown Methodist Cemetery.
