On January 26, 2013, Klaas Bakker ascended to heaven after a long struggle with diabetes. His strong spirit carried him through many difficult times. Klaas was born and raised in Alblasserdam, Holland. In his teens he moved to America and met his love, Judith Flury. He raised a family with two daughters, Michelle Denise and Danielle Marie. Sadly, Danielle passed away in March 2011 and left a hole in his family's heart. Klaas' love of nature was fostered in his beloved campground, Lake-In-Wood. This oasis holds a special place in many people's hearts and he will be greatly missed.Klaas Bakker is survived by his beautiful wife, Judith Rose, his daughter Michelle Bakker Lecatsas, her husband, Chris Anthony Lecatsas, his children, Nicole Leann and Nicholas Anthony, his son in law, Andre Canales, his children, Serena Summer and Erik Alexander, his sister Irene Towey and his brother, William Bakker. May he rest in peace. His memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland with Chaplain Chester Yoder officiating. A visitation will be held at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the American Diabetes Society at P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be posted on our website, www.groffeckenroth.com.Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you."
