How will officials achieve their goals?
To The Editors:
I read with interest the article titled "Local leaders set goals."
The comments made by each official resemble remarks made by politicians prior to elections. Each goal as established in a strategic plan needs to be followed by objectives (two or more) explaining how the goal is to be achieved. Under each objective are the actions that explain what will take place, the date it will happen and who will do the task. A business plan is developed in this manner.
Each official should be asked to explain how they propose to attain the goals such as reducing unproductive regulatory compliances or addressing growing infrastructure needs or suggesting efforts to improve education quality, access and funding.
I wonder how many of these officials are prepared to follow through on these goals and do the rest of the planning needed to accomplish what they say.
