Gov't infringes on rights

TO THE INTELL EDITORS:

In the Jan. 22 editorial, you wrote abortion is a woman's reproductive right. In the Declaration of Independence it states:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness ... ." That "whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government."

I believe my rights come directly from God. When we seek to give our government the right to take away citizens' lives at will, we are devaluing all human life. As you will eventually see, under the Affordable Care Act, our government will continue to make laws infringing on our right to life.

Abortion rights are as much about giving government the power over every aspect of our lives as it is about the "right to privacy," because once the government has control, it will be difficult to force it to relinquish it. We have given our government the control over the lives of unborn babies. It will not stop there.
