Andrew Ladd scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and the Winnipeg Jets won their first home game of the season, beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2.

Evander Kane, Dustin Byfuglien and Blake Wheeler, with a late empty-net goal, also scored for the Jets.

It didn't start that well for Winnipeg after Sidney Crosby put on a scoring clinic in the first with two goals to give Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead.

But it was all Jets in the second, as Kane scored early, Byfuglien tied it just over 10 minutes later and Ladd then put the Jets ahead for good.

Devils 3, Capitals 2: Ilya Kovalchuk scored 4:39 into overtime, and New Jersey won its third straight game to start the lockout-shortened season, over winless Washington.

Bruins 4, Islanders 2: Zdeno Chara scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period and Tuukka Rask made 24 saves, lifting Boston to a win over New York.

Hurricanes 3, Sabres 1: Jay Harrison scored the go-ahead goal with 4:50 left, helping Carolina.

Harrison fired a slap shot from the right point after Eric Staal won the faceoff, and the puck beat Buffalo's Ryan Miller on the short side.

Red Wings 5, Wild 3: Henrik Zetterberg snapped a tie midway through the second period, and Todd Bertuzzi scored his second goal of the game early in the third to lift Detroit .

Lightning 6, Senators 4: Ryan Malone scored a pair of third-period goals as Tampa Bay beat Ottawa.

Oilers claim Hovinen: The Edmonton Oilers have claimed goalie Niko Hovinen off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday.

The 24-year-old native of Finland played in 16 games this season with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL. He went 4-6-3 with a 3.14 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage.
