Douglas G. High, Sr.

Douglas G. High, Sr., age 70, of Paradise, PA passed away at his home on Friday, January 25, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary Alice Landis High with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage on October 14th of last year. He was born in New Holland, son of the late James & Kathryn Barley High. Surviving besides his wife are 2 children: Douglas G. Jr. husband of Laurie Stoner High of Paradise, Pamela S. High Patton wife of Michael Patton of Paradise; granddaughter, Jessica A. High of Paradise; 4 siblings: James Leon High of Gordonville, Norma wife of William Fryberger of New Holland, Michael B. husband of Candy Duncan High of Collegeville, PA, Gregory husband of Barbara Kreider High of Paradise. He was preceded in death by a brother, David High. Doug was a member of Leacock Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee. He was co-owner of High Brothers Feed of Gordonville where he proudly sold Purina Feed for 51 years. Doug was a graduate of Pequea Valley High School Class of 1960 and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He was a member of the Paradise Lions Club where he was a past president as well as a member of the Potter County Snowmobile Club. Doug coached softball for the Paradise Angels in the LANCO Girls Softball League for 17 years. He was chairman of the Paradise Township Park & Rec. Committee and was instrumental in starting the first Paradise Community Picnic. He was also actively involved with the Paradise 300th Anniversary Committee. Doug was a strong, wonderful man who lived his life to the fullest. He was dedicated completely to everything he believed in and did everything wholeheartedly. He was a die-hard Penn State Football fan, loved watching Dale Earnhardt race and enjoyed spending his spare time at

the mountains where he could be found snowmobiling or bicycling. A memorial service will take place at the Leacock Presbyterian Church, 3181 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, PA on Wednesday, January 30th, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Birch officiating. Interment will be private in Zeltenreichs Cemetery. The High family will greet guests following the memorial service. There will be a time to celebrate Doug?s life at a tailgate style reception in the church fellowship hall following the service.
