Hazel B. Ruhl

Hazel B. Ruhl, 99, of 745 Chiques Hill Road, Columbia, PA, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehab Center, where they loved her for five years.Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the widow of John H.L. Ruhl, who passed away in 1991, and the daughter of the late Samuel and Edith Barto Powell.Hazel was a member of the Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church and, for all of her life, was a loving mother to her six daughters. She was employed at one time with RCA, RR Donnelley, and Weis Markets. She is survived by five daughters: June, wife of Paul Waters; Joanne, widow of John Rintz; Mary, wife of Richard Flick; Peggy, wife of Robert Hull; Cheryl Swayne, wife of Richard Amey, all of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Hecker. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, including four sisters, Edythe Stauffer, Mildred Dickel, Arlene Thomas, and Betty Neiss, and a brother, Samuel Powell, Jr.Relatives and friends are invited to attend Hazel?s Life Celebration Memorial Service from Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3825 Concordia Road, Columbia, PA on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Mary Anne Kingsborough officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Private interment to take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehab Center, 745 Chiques Hill Road, Columbia, PA 17512 or Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church.
