Pennington, Sr.Robert R. Pennington, Sr., 89, died Friday, January 18, 2013 in Malvern, PA. He was born in Ashe County North Carolina on June 2, 1923, a son to the late Rohe V. and Stella (Eller) Pennington. Bob moved with his family in 1927 to Southern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he got his primary and secondary education in the Quarryville school system. As a youngster in high school, he was an exceptional athlete and was a highly skilled baseball player.A pilot with the Army Air Corps during World War II, Pennington took advantage of the G.I. Bill and attended Penn State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor?s Degree in 1947.He was an avid reader and golfer, who placed great value on education.For much of his life, he worked as a salesman for educational textbook publishers including Lippincott and Rand McNally. In his later years, he became a Realtor.He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Helen "Connie" Pennington; his son, Robert R. Pennington, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Shaun A. Pennington of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; three grandsons, Ryan Pennington, Jason J. Reiff and Aaron R. Reiff; granddaughter, Monica Pennington; three great grandchildren, Louis Pennington, Elizabeth Pennington, Beckett Reiff; two brothers, David Pennington of Renton, WA and Dr. James Pennington of Quarryville, PA; along with one sister, Evelyn Burkle of Wilmington, DE. He was predeceased by his sisters, Irene Reifsnyder, Elisabeth Raffensperger, Jessie Smith; brothers, Joseph Pennington, Herbert Pennington and Rohe Pennington Jr.A private interment will be in the Virgin Islands, a place he had grown to love in his later years.
