(Nelson) CrowlMadlyn May (Nelson) Crowl, age 86, formerly of Quarryville, PA made her trip to Heaven on Jan 22, 2013 after several years of living with Alzheimer?s disease with her loving husband David always by her side. She was a good Christian wife, mother and grandmother who was quiet and unassuming but very industrious. Born on Sept 18, 1926 in Jeannette, PA to Oscar and Ruth (Henry) Nelson. She graduated 11th out of 220 in her Jeannette High School class and worked for 3 years at Jeannette Glass before marrying David Crowl on January 24, 1948, 65 years ago. Then
they moved to Lancaster Co. First David Jr. was born, then Ann (myself) and later on Tom. Dad worked many long hours but Mom was always there at home and the neighborhood kids often gathered at our house in Quarryville, PA. Mom was always active at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church: teaching Sunday school for nearly 30 years, served as a deacon, was President of the Women?s Association and visited the sick and elderly. Also, she was a den mother and always assisting Dad with the Boy Scouts. Later, she managed the Meals on Wheels program for the whole area. Mom and Dad rode a motorcycle across the country 5 times and then switched to a motor home when they retired in 1990. Mom loved all their travels and saw all 50 states. In 1996 Mom and Dad moved to Englewood, FL fulltime and attend Englewood United Methodist Church.She is survived by her husband David of Englewood, FL, daughter Ann married to Roy Meyer of Placida, FL, son Tom married to Hannah Crowl of Vacaville, CA, 6 grandchildren & 1 great grandson plus her 3 sisters & many dear nieces, nephews & cousins. Preceded in death by son David Jr.Funeral services will be held Monday January 28, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. from Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, PA with Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson and Rev. David McGee officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Visitation times will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. from Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA and one half hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, or Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster, PA.
