Esther White, 92, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Fairmount Homes.She was born in Bowmansville to the late Jacob G. and Sally (Burkhart) Hurst and was the wife of the late Elam M. White.Esther was a member of the Akron Church of the Brethren. She was also a member of Friendly Circle. During her working years, Esther was employed in the laundry of Fairmount Homes for over 30 years. She enjoyed planting flowers, sewing, traveling and word search puzzles. Esther shared her love by cooking and sharing her food.Esther is survived by 2 sons, Charles L., husband of Dolly (Diem) White of Ephrata, Gerry L., husband of Christine (Cameron) White of Kingsburg, CA; 6 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and a brother, John Hurst of KS.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 7 brothers, Sylvester Hurst, David Hurst, Jacob Hurst, Clayton Hurst, Edwin Hurst, Lloyd Hurst, Roy Hurst; 2 sisters, Anna (Hurst) Good and Mary (Hurst) Good.A viewing will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wheat Ridge Chapel at Fairmount Homes, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Tuesday, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Akron Church of the Brethren, 613 Main Street, Akron, followed by her funeral services at 10 a.m., with Pastor Tom Weber officiating.Interment will take place in the Metzler Mennonite Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, contributions in Esther's memory may be made to the Akron Church of the Brethren, 613 Main Street, Akron, PA 17501, or Fairmount Homes Benevolent Fund, 333 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata, PA 17522.Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
