Judge to man, 20: Don't own cellphone for 5 years

While on probation in sex-message case

A young Lancaster man was paroled Wednesday after nearly a year in prison for sending lewd text and photo messages to at least four local girls.

Lancaster County Judge Howard Knisely paroled 20-year-old Eddison Abreu, but the judge ordered he not own a cellphone or have computer access during 5 years of probation.

"You may either start a new life or go back to these same things," Knisely told Abreu.

Abreu, of Knollwood Drive, was charged by police in four jurisdictions -- Manheim Township, East Lampeter Township, Lancaster city and Ephrata -- with sending girls sexual text messages and photos of his genitals.

Abreu, in some cases, asked for sex or illicit photos in return, investigators said.

The girls were between ages 12 and 17, and Abreu was aware of that, court documents show.

No physical contact was alleged.

Abreu had been locked up since Feb. 10. He had pleaded guilty to unlawful contact with minors, criminal use of a cellphone, corruption of minors, solicitation to manufacture child porn and solicitation to disseminate child porn.

His attorney, Vincent Monfredo, told Knisely that Abreu has no criminal record and was a good student. "He still has his whole life ahead of him," Monfredo said. "I believe his time in jail has rehabilitated him."

Abreu said little when Knisely asked for comment.

"I just want to say I'm sorry for what I did," he said. "I don't got anything else to say."

When questioned by police last year, Abreu told officers that "when he drinks, he does stupid things," an affidavit shows.

Knisely said that Abreu is allowed to use a computer for employment purposes.
