Why won't restrictions trim tragedies?

TO THE EDITORS:

When something doesn't happen, how do we know? The National Rifle Association claims that most of President Obama's restrictions on assault weapons will not stop the tragedies in our country. How do they know? Certainly they will not stop all of these nightmares, but will some never happen?

What do we know? Parents will feel easier sending their children to school. I will feel safer going to a movie or an event at a school. I do know it will save some lives, but I do not know how anyone could prove that.

I do know that Sen. Robert Casey would agree with me. I do not know if Sen.Pat Toomey or Rep. Joe Pitts will support the president's efforts to make our world safer. Please contact them to find out.
