Biased coverage of Roe v. Wade

TO THE EDITORS:

Lancaster Newspapers' coverage has been very one-sided regarding the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

There are many (more than 63 percent, according to a Pew Poll on the matter) who do not feel that Roe should be overturned. I'd like to see your paper covering that majority, which increases each year.

Additionally, the number of people who are grossly misinformed about the use of federal and state funding for abortion is disconcerting. I would like to see this newspaper print more factual information about the laws preventing taxpayer funds from funding abortion services, as well as the factual statistics about Planned Parenthood and its compliance with these laws.

The anti-choice readership of Lancaster Newspapers should understand that Planned Parenthood does not perform abortions in Lancaster. Moreover, the Lancaster health center prevents abortion through access to birth control and other critical family planning and reproductive health care services for more than 4,700 patients.

Because of the Supreme Court's decision on Roe v. Wade, and the existence of organizations like Planned Parenthood, abortion in this country is safe, legal and rare.
