BASKETBALL Blue Jays knock off Messiah Kreider scores 23 in 62-57 triumph E-town 62, Messiah 57 F&M 51, Johns Hopkins 47 Lanc. Bible 68, Penn St. Abington 51 Millersville 69, East Stroudsburg 55

For the first time in more than 10 years, Elizabethtown College's women's basketball team beat Messiah, and in turn broke an 11-game losing streak on the road with a 62-57 victory on Wednesday night.

Taylor Kreider (Solanco) scored a game-high 23 points and added a team-high 8 rebounds for Elizabethtown (9-7, 7-4 CC).

After trailing throughout the first half and most of the second, E-town chipped away at the Falcons' (16-2, 10-1 CC) lead and finally pulled in front on back-to-back layups from Alyssa Aichele with just under six minutes remaining in the game.

The Blue Jays play No. 15 Lebanon Valley at home Saturday. Game time is set for 2 p.m.

F&M 51, Johns Hopkins 47: Alexa Barbush scored 21 of her game-high 30 points in the second half, including 17 of the team's final 18, for visiting Franklin & Marshall.

Barbush scored 18 from the free-throw line on 22 attempts, both career highs. The senior guard shot 6-of-13 from the field and added nine rebounds on the night.

F&M's defense limited the Blue Jays to 19 percent shooting from the field and picked up nine steals.

Alexa Vasilla paced the Blue Jays' offense with 13 points, while Stacy Fairey tacked on 10.

Lancaster Bible 68, Penn State-Abington 51: Aubrey Folger scored a game-high 24 points, and Lauren Heliger added 21 for visiting Lancaster Bible.

The Chargers (13-3, 9-2 NEAC) grabbed the game's momentum with a 15-2 run midway through the first half and went into the break with a 29-21 advantage.

Janay Winston led the Nittany Lions (7-9, 5-4) with 21 points.

Millersville 69, East Stroudsburg 55: Mashira Newman set a program record with 11 steals, and Aurielle Mosley scored a game-high 20 points to help the Marauders (11-5, 8-4) power past the Warriors (5-11, 4-8).

Senada Mehmedovic (14 points) and Carly Gallagher (11 points) joined Mosley in double figures. Millersville climbed to an 8-2 lead in the first half and never looked back.

Jessica Martin led East Stroudsburg with 14 points.
