Rufus G. Williams Jr.
Rufus G. Williams Jr. died peacefully on January 22, 2013 at Lancashire Hall where he was a resident since June 2011.Born March 6, 1917, he was the son of the late Annie T. Williams and Rufus G. Williams Sr. of Kingston, PA.He is survived by three sons, Michael O., Christopher A., and David G. Williams, all of Lancaster, and a grandson, Chadd M. Williams of York.Rufus enlisted in the PA State Police in August 1940 and retired in July 1968. He then worked as Supervisor of Plant Protection at the Lancaster Floor Plant of Armstrong Cork Co. He retired from Armstrong in February 1980. Upon his retirement from Armstrong, he and his wife Jeanne moved to Florida.Rufus was the Troop Commander in Philadelphia as Captain with responsibility for Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties.Rufus enjoyed rooting for the Phillies and Eagles. He also enjoyed playing golf. While in Philadelphia, he was a member at Bala Golf Club where he was a member of the "Buffaloes," which included Willie Mosconi and Frank Chirkinian who both came to Lancaster and played with him at Conestoga C.C. Upon retirement, he was a member of the Dunedin, Florida Country Club for over twenty years.Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Curlew Hills Cemetery in Dunedin, Florida, where his wife of 61 years, Jeanne H. Williams, who died in 2006, is buried.Kindly omit flowers.
