William L. Jankans, III
William L. Jankans III "Popsicle"William L. "Bill" Jankans III, 82, of Marietta, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Lebanon. Born in Columbia, PA, on October 21, 1930, he was the only son of the late William L., Jr. and Katherine Edmond Jankans. He was the devoted husband of Willie L. Jankans. "Bill" leaves to cherish his precious memory a daughter, Deloris (Nathan) Hawkins, Lancaster; two sons, Charles Eugene Sanders and his companion, Cathy Delgado, Mt. Joy and Billy Ross (Alice) Sanders, Lancaster; a special nephew/ brother, Tommy Jankans; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine J. "Toots" Mickey, Anna Simms and Estella Henderson, all of Columbia.He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War where he received a "Purple Heart." He retired from Donesco Foundry and previously did construction work on the Columbia/Wrightsville Bridge. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved fishing, playing cards and dominoes and enjoyed cheering for and talking about the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies. The family will receive friends and visitors at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut Street, Columbia, PA on Sunday, January 27th, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The funeral services will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 297 S. Fifth Street, Columbia, PA on Monday, January 28th, 11:00 a.m. (viewing from 10:00-11:00 a.m.) with Reverend Adrian Boxley, Sr. officiating. Interment at Habecker Mennonite Cemetery.
