Leola man charged in child death

A Leola man has been charged with homicide in the death of a child.

Jesus Manuel LaSanta, 27, was taken into custody Wednesday and committed to Lancaster County Prison without bail.

Charges of criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of a child were filed with District Judge B. Denise Commins by East Lampeter Township police Det. Preston Gentzler.

According to court documents, the charges stem from an incident that occurred Jan. 13.

Police and Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman will hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m. today to discuss the investigation and subsequent charges.

They released no information about the incident Wednesday night.
