TO THE EDITORS:

In response to the story about Lester Johnson's Facebook postings and other brutal murders of children in Lancaster:

I am a native of Lancaster County, and am concerned for our children's safety. Murdering, molesting and shooting innocent children seems to be increasing, and it is painful to read and know this is happening in my community.

Mothers with children should consider, before beginning a relationship with a man, checking into his background and finding out about his past, whether he has a history of violence, abuse, drugs or other crimes. The family is being placed at risk by allowing strangers (someone they may think they know) access to our children, family and home.

I hope that the punishment for the crimes involving innocent babies and children is severe for murderers like Johnson and any other molester.

Terrie Turner Byrd
