Tired of the partisanship

TO THE EDITORS:

As the country continues to limp along, it outrages me to see our politicians continue in their partisan ways. I see Democrats and Republicans making what seems like little to no effort to reach across the aisle.

While the "fiscal cliff" deal may have been signed, I was informed that my dad's tax rates will still go up. I don't believe the deal was a failure, I applaud it. But I feel that we were short-changed of the main reason we tried to avoid the cliff: tax rates. Politicians need to stop playing politics. The bitter hatred between the two parties must stop.

While they feud over the most basic of things, our country continues its decline. The previous Congress was arguably the worst ever assembled. The people have spoken out, in movements such as the Occupy Movement. I hope that many will look toward the bold and outspoken, and actually make an effort to get the engine pumping again.

Our nation -- government and citizens -- must set aside our differences, join together and fight for what we all love near and dear to our hearts. America.
