Bart Twp. designates officials; vacancies remain
BY MARCELLA PEYRE-FERRY, Correspondent
Bart Township supervisors met earlier this month for their annual board reorganization, making few changes to officers and other appointees, but noting that there are still vacancies in township government.
Supervisor Calvin Keene remains chairman of the board, with Robert Girvin continuing as vice chairman. Edward Weidman is the third member. Girvin also is continuing as Bart Township's representative on issues concerning the Enola Low Grade Trail.
The board was unable to fill a vacancy on the zoning hearing board, and two open positions remain on the township planning commission. The newest planning commission vacancy was created by the resignation of longtime member John W. Beyer, who is moving out of the township. Any resident who is interested in serving on either body may contact the supervisors for consideration.
Other annual appointments followed with no changes from 2012. The township's solicitor is Kenelm Shirk of Shirk & Ermolovich, and the primary sewage enforcement officer is Marvin Stoner, with Mark Deimler as alternate.
John Coldiron of Municipal Solutions serves as the township zoning officer, and the township secretary-treasurer is Valeria Keene.
The Bart Township Board of Supervisors meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the township building, 46 Quarry Road., Quarryville. The township planning commission meets on the Tuesday prior to the supervisors' meeting. The zoning hearing board meets as needed on the first Thursday of the month.
