Three Manheim Township churches are joining hands to help a local resident.

Lancaster Church of the Brethren, Grandview United Methodist Church and St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a spaghetti dinner Saturday to support neighborhood resident Jim Sebest.

The self-employed contractor suffered a crushed vertebra in a swimming accident in 2010 that left him paralyzed.

The "Help, Hope, Live for Jim Sebest" benefit event will be held at Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature live music by local performers and churches. The meal will include spaghetti, Italian bread, salad and assorted desserts.

The cost for the meal is a free-will donation. All proceeds will benefit the Mid-Atlantic Spinal Cord Injury Fund, which supports Sebest with medical expenses not covered by insurance.

Monetary donations are tax-deductible. Checks can be sent to Lancaster Church of the Brethren, made out to HelpHOPELive (write Jim Sebest in the memo section).
