C. Mark Carbonetta
C. Mark Carbonetta, 57, Lancaster, PA entered into eternal rest and was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 20. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.Born in Lancaster, Mark was the son of the late Reno Raymond and Elizabeth Rose (Waldenberger) Carbonetta.Mark leaves behind Stephanie L. (Fetter), his wife and best friend of more than 25 years, and his beloved daughter, Jacqueline Rose. She was the light of his life. Mark knew the pain of losing his parents at an early age. That was just one of the many reasons why he fought so valiantly to win his battle with cancer. Sadly that was not to be. However, he has left Jacqueline with 16 years filled with love, laughter, joy and memories that will be with her for a lifetime. He is also survived by two brothers, Raymond Carbonetta (Danuta), Taylors Island, MD, Louis Carbonetta (Kathleen), Hillsborough, NJ, and by two sisters, Elizabeth (Carbonetta) Hoerman (Frank), Manhattan Beach, CA and Barbara (Carbonetta) Keith (Frank), Mt. Laurel, NJ. In 2007 Mark wrote and published "Petals of Love: A Daddy?s Wisdom for His Daughter" because he wanted Jacqueline to know first and foremost how much he loved her and secondly to let others know just how important a father is in the life of his daughter. There really is no greater relationship in a young girl?s life. As always, he achieved this in his wonderful "it?s serious, but low-key way."Mark was a "Global Hero." In 2008 he was selected by The Medtronic?s Foundation as one of 50 athletes from around the world to be honored in Minneapolis, MN for his perseverance in overcoming great obstacles after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He competed in a 10-mile race and was part of the team captained by Alberto Salazar. Prior to this diagnosis, he had competed in many marathons, including Boston. He was our hero and taught us the importance of working hard to overcome life?s challenges. There was nothing more important to Mark than his Faith and his family and he lived it each day. He was a man of God and loved the Lord more than anything. He was an active supporter of Dayspring Christian Academy and served on many committees. His enthusiasm for the school and the Principle Approach Education will be greatly missed.Along with running, Mark loved to spend time in the kitchen and was an accomplished cook. He loved teaching Jacqueline all the delicious secret family recipes, of which there were many. He loved entertaining and took great pride in making everyone who entered his home feel instantly welcome. Above all else, Mark was a gentleman.Mark loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time at the family cabin near State College -- hiking, relaxing by the campfire and simply being with the people he loved most. Annual trips to the mountains of western North Carolina were a special treat, and Mark and Stephanie had hoped to retire there one day.A graduate of Manheim Township High School, Mark attended Elizabethtown College. He was employed by Clipper Magazine where he worked as the Director of Corporate Recruiting for the past 16 years. He was a partner of LCBC Church in Manheim.Friends and loved ones are respectfully invited to attend Mark?s Life Celebration Service at LCBC Church, 2392 Mount Joy Road, Manheim, PA on Saturday, January 26th, at 10:30 A.M. with Chaplain Tom Dodge officiating.
