Very conservative, according to the National Journal‘s analysis of votes in 2010. U.S. Rep. Joe Pitts, a Republican who represents Lancaster County in the 16th Congressional District, ranks 41st most conservative in Congress, according to National Journal. His composite rating of votes on social, economic and foreign policy issues is 88.2, meaning that he is more conservative than 88.2 percent of his colleagues.
So who’s more conservative than Pitts? Well, Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas is, for one. He scored an 88.3 in the rankings. So are Reps. Sue Myrick of North Carolina, Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia and Todd Akin of Missiouri, each of whom ranks in the 89s.
Pitts had an 88 rating in 2009, a 90 rating in 2008, and 88 ratings in 2007 and 2006. No surprise here: he’s the most conservative member of Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation.
