Democrats hint at contest for county commissioner … in the primary

As we told you yesterday, Craig Lehman will have company on this year’s election ballot for county commissioner: Jonathan Paul Fox, a 10-year employee of the now-defunct county Human Relations Commission, said Wednesday he is seeking his party’s endorsement to run alongside the one-term incumbent.

Are there more Democrats preparing to run?

A statement from the county party this afternoon suggests that very thing: “Two candidates have announced their intention to run for County Commissioner – incumbent Craig Lehman and Jonathan Paul Fox. It is anticipated that other candidates for Commissioner will come forward at the convention.”

Primary voters can nominate only two candidates for the office, so things could get really interesting on Saturday, when the Democratic Committee holds its endorsement convention.

Stay tuned.
