“Come Together Now” … the Christian music community is uniting, in song, to help Haiti

Could this become the “We Are The World” of Christian music?
In the awful aftermath of the horrific earthquake in Haiti, Michael W. Smith and some other top-name Christian music artists plan to “Come Together Now” to help Haiti.
“Come Together Now” is a song written by Smith, David Mullen and Cindy Morgan to benefit Haitian relief efforts.
And many top names in Christian music are gathering this Wednesday night at Nashville’s Ocean Way studio to record the song, which will help the people of Haiti in the same way that “We Are The World” once helped the people of Africa.
The Nashville studio has been donated, the musicians have donated their time, and all proceeds from the song will go to designated charity/relief work, through organizations like the American Red Cross and Samaritan’s Purse.
A virtual who’s-who of Christian music artists are among those to take part.
Slated to appear are: Aaron Shust, Alathea, Amy Grant, Ashley Cleveland, Austins Bridge, Brandon Heath, Britt Nicole, Chris McClarney, Chris Sligh, Don Poythress, Dorothy Savage, Duane Allen, Echoing Angels, Everlife, Francesca Battistelli, Jaime Jamgochian, Jared Anderson, Jody Davis, John Schlitt, Kate Lazar, the Katinas, Kevin Max, Kirk Sullivan, Lee Greenwood, Manic Drive, Margaret Becker, Mark Hall, Matt Dowley, Matthew West, Matt Maher, Meredith Andrews, Michael Tait, Mike’s Chair, Mike Weaver, Paige Armstrong, Phil Stacey, Point of Grace, PureNRG, Rachael Lampa, Restless Heart, Selah, Steven Curtis Chapman, TobyMac, Wynonna, and Yellow Cavalier.
“This is about the Nashville music community coming together to help a country in dire need,” as one organizer says.
“The crisis in Haiti has left us all trying to figure out how we can help.”
It’s no surprise that Michael W. Smith, who wrote the song that captured the awful 1999 Columbine murders in music, is doing so much to help Haiti.
He’s won every award there is in his 27-year music career, but I doubt if any cups of cold water mean as much to MWS as this effort to help Haiti does
