Perhaps Mrs. Bush didn't make enough money for her teaching and librarian jobs to count. Being a mother certainly didn't count to Mrs. Kerry. Mrs. Kerry made a quick retraction of her remark, saying that she forgot Mrs. Bush was a teacher and librarian. Well, being a mother still isn't a job to Mrs. Kerry.
Mrs. Kerry also shows her utter contempt for the position of the first lady. To Mrs. Kerry, being the First Lady isn't a job either. Perhaps as Mrs. Bush doesn't fly around in private jets while earning $2.5 million in tax-free money that makes her accomplishments unimportant.
As the first lady, Mrs. Bush works on literacy campaigns, teacher recruitment, early-childhood development, breast-cancer awareness, women's health issues, and preservation programs. None of that is important to Mrs. Kerry.
