Tuesday night's action brought the Lancaster-Lebanon League regular season to a close, so it's time to turn our attention to the league playoffs, which get underway next week.
The brackets for both genders appear below. The boys' playoffs get underway on Monday, Feb. 11, while the girls' playoffs begin the following night. All quarterfinal matchups will be held at the section champions' home gyms, while the semifinals will be held at neutral courts.
The boys' final is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 at Manheim Township. The girls' final will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, also at Township.
On the boys' side, defending champion McCaskey (20-2) is back in the field after capturing the Section 1 title. The Red Tornado has won 20 straight games by an average margin of 29 points.
Elsewhere in the boys bracket, Section 3 champ Donegal brings an unblemished 22-0 record into the fray. The Indians could meet McCaskey in the semifinal round if both teams win their first-round matchups; that could be the most intriguing matchup of the playoffs should it come about.
The boys' bracket is rounded out by Section 2 champ Elizabethtown (16-6), Section 4 champ Lancaster Catholic (16-6), Section 1 runner-up Cedar Crest (14-8), Section 2 runner-up Lebanon (13-9), Section 3 runner-up Lampeter-Strasburg (15-7)) and Section 4 runner-up Lancaster Mennonite (15-7).
On the girls' side, all the participants are set, but the bracket is not 100 percent finished. That's because Cocalico and Ephrata still have to play a one-game playoff to determine the Section 2 championship. The two teams will square off at 7 p.m. Friday at Garden Spot. The winner earns the section crown and a first-round date with Section 3 runner-up Elco (14-8); the loser will take on Section 3 champ Lampeter-Strasburg (19-1).
L-S is part of the tough upper half of the bracket, which also includes Section 1 champion Manheim Township (19-2).
Defending league champion Lancaster Catholic (22-0) is lurking on the bottom half of the bracket after winning the Section 4 crown.
