Revelers in the third annual Santa Stumble raised $7,588 last month for the Lancaster city police horse-mounted unit and police dogs.

More than 40 downtown businesses donated money and merchandise toward the Dec. 14 event, organized through the People of Lancaster Facebook page.

Items were sold in a silent auction and raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the mounted and K-9 units.

More than 500 people participated in the Santa Stumble, which also included visits to downtown bars and restaurants, said Shawn VonStein, one of the event organizers.

A check was presented to city police officials Wednesday. In the event's three years, nearly $12,000 has been donated to the city police. People of Lancaster organizers hope to raise $10,000 when the 2013 Santa Stumble is held in December, VonStein said.
