A Lancaster woman struck by a car in East Lampeter Township on Dec. 16 died from her injuries Christmas Eve.

Jacqueline Wertz, 41, was trying to cross Old Philadelphia Pike in the 2100 block at around 6:20 p.m., township police said.

She was struck by a Volkswagen GTI driven by Scott Ament, 51, of Lancaster, according to police. Ament was not injured.

According to her obituary in Thursday's newspaper, Wertz was taking cookies to church when the accident happened.

She was transported to Lancaster General Hospital after the wreck.

Wertz died from her injuries on Dec. 24 at Hospice & Community Care, county Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said Thursday. Her death was ruled accidental.

Neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the accident, police said.

There was no crosswalk in the area, nor were there any overhead street lights.

Police are still investigating the accident and no charges have yet been determined, East Lampeter Township police Lt. Robin Weaver said.
