A woman was in critical condition Monday after she was struck by a car on Old Philadelphia Pike in East Lampeter Township Sunday evening.

Jacqueline Wertz, 42, was listed in critical condition at Lancaster General Hospital, according to a nursing supervisor.

East Lampeter police said Wertz was attempting to cross Old Philadelphia Pike in the 2100 block at around 6:20 p.m.

She was struck by a Volkswagen GTI driven by Scott Ament, 51, of Lancaster, according to police.

Ament was not injured, police said.

Neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the accident, police said.

There was no crosswalk in the area, nor were there any overhead street lights.

Old Philadelphia Pike was closed at the scene of the accident for about 21-whours Sunday evening.

An investigation continues, and anyone with information is urged to contact East Lampeter Sgt. Rob Eachus at 291-4676.
