The Lancaster Farmland Trust will benefit from Farm Aid's 2012 concert profits–– to the tune of $10,000.

The award, announced Wednesday by Farm Aid in Cambridge, MA, will support the trust's Next Generation Farming Initiative.

LFT was one of 67 family farm and rural service organizations nationwide given $532,300 in all.

A total of $49,000 is being handed over to farmers and organizations pursuing sustainable farming and ag education and local food systems in Pennsylvania, where the 27th annual Farm Aid concert was held Sept. 22 at Hersheypark Stadium.

Legendary musicians and founding Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson,  Neil Young and John Mellencamp were featured at the sold-out, all-day event. The bill also included artists Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews, a board member who began playing Farm Aid concerts in 1995.

The trust received its grant under Farm Aid's "Helping Farmers Thrive" category.

Other Pennsylvania grant recipients included the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture in Millheim, which received a total of $20,500; Rodale Institute, Kutztown, "$10,000; and The Seed Farm, Allentown, $7,500.

In addition, according to Farm Aid, three Pennsylvania farm families in crisis received grants of $500 each.
