Two armed men robbed the McDonald's restaurant on Centerville Road in East Hempfield Township this morning and were quickly apprehended in York County, a Lancaster Countywide Communications supervisor reported.

The robbery occurred at about 5:40 a.m. at the restaurant. The suspects reportedly fled west on Route 30 across the Susquehanna River at a high rate of speed. They were quickly spotted by police and followed to Dark Hollow Road, near Wrightsville, where they were taken into custody about 10 minutes after the robbery.

A manager at the 311 Centerville Road restaurant declined to answer questions about the incident, but did confirm that a robbery had taken place.

The McDonald's drive-thru window remains open through the night, but the lobby service at the restaurant had only been open about 40 minutes when the robbery occurred.

Police officers from Columbia, East Hempfield and West Hempfield townships and Wrightsville participated in the apprehension. No further information was immediately available.
