A program on "The True Story Behind the Amish Beard Cuttings in Ohio" will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl.

The program is sponsored by and for the benefit of the Nicholas Stoltzfus House in Berks County.

Speaker will be Donald B. Kraybill, senior fellow in the Young Center at Elizabethtown College. In September, he served as expert cultural witness at the three-week federal trial of the 16 defendants from the Mullet sect in Bergholz, Ohio. He will explain what led to the hate crimes and why the defendants were found guilty by a jury.
