A 7-year-old Amish boy died Saturday evening after an accident on his family's farm in Sadsbury Township, officials reported.
The boy, who wasn't identified, was pronounced dead shortly after a 911 call was made about 5:45 p.m.
The family reported that the boy fell into a grain wagon and sustained fatal injuries on the farm in the first block of Williams Run Road.
The family actually called a local funeral home instead of dialing 911, according to officials. An employee at the home, in turn, called 911 to have the death confirmed.
Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said an autopsy will be performed Monday because there were no witnesses to the accident.
"Based on the information we have, it appears to be an accidental death," Diamantoni said Saturday night. In a press release, police said the boy was buried in the grain.
Deputy Coroner Kristen Rutt pronounced the boy dead at the home. He had been removed from the farm equipment by the time emergency responders arrived. There were no efforts to resuscitate the boy, as he was obviously deceased, officials said.
