A Paradise man who eluded police after separate vehicle pursuits last week in Lancaster and Perry counties was captured after a third chase Thursday morning, officials said.
Alan L. Beiler, 34, of 875 Country Lane, was arrested by police who caught him in a barn in East Earl Township after a pursuit by car and on foot, police said.
The capture also involved the use of a helicopter and canine unit from the Lancaster County sheriff's office after officials were tipped off that Beiler was staying at a friend's house.
Beiler is being charged with fleeing to avoid apprehension and criminal trespass for his actions Thursday, state police Trooper Anthony Thomas said.
He also faces charges from a July 4 incident in which Manheim Township police tried to stop him for an alleged traffic violation on Rider Avenue.
He fled at high speeds and drove through a field at Wheatland Middle School in Lancaster Township, police said.
Charges were filed Monday against Beiler before District Judge Mary Sponaugle for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, trespass by motor vehicle, reckless driving and three other traffic violations, police said.
Beiler also was involved in a pursuit Saturday in Perry County during which a state trooper was injured when his vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier, according to a spokesman at the state police Newport barracks.
The trooper suffered minor injuries.
The pursuit began when police tried to stop a sport utility vehicle at 9 a.m. According to media reports, the SUV traveled into Duncannon and then onto southbound Route 11/15.
No charges have been filed in that incident.
