Members of New Holland Borough Council thanked local businesses and volunteers Tuesday that donated time and resources to the community.

Steve Good, chairman of the property committee, recognized the following people and businesses for contributions to the Towne Centre green space at the corner of Main Street and North Roberts Avenue:

• Usner Excavating of East Earl for grading and leveling.

• Brian Hackman Excavating of New Holland for two loads of topsoil.

• Lynn Wetzel, resident and electrician, for underground wiring installation.

• Showcase Landscaping Services of New Holland for seeding, small plants and ongoing site landscaping.

In other business, council authorized a donation of $310 to the United Veteran's Council for their Memorial Day activities. Members also approved closing Main Street, east to Kinzer Avenue, and south to New Holland Community Memorial Park, for the council's Memorial Day parade.
